Carol C. Kuhlthau
I have been a fan of Carol C. Kuhlthau's for the past few years when first reading about her Information Search Process. I was thrilled when I learned we would be reading her latest book Guided Inquiry as a text for our course. Carol's work has taught me a lot and through my searches I have found she is not only someone I will follow for the process portion of this capping paper but also for research on the impact of school libraries and teacher librarians.

The discussion in this course during our weekly topics has led me to Ross J. Todd As a colleague of Carol Kuhlthau's the two have worked closely together on several research studies and articles. In looking at his CV and scanning articles, I have already bookmarked several to read over the next few months. First up " How effective are effective school libraries: Students perspectives from Ohio." (2004)
Keith Curry Lance
Studying the impact of a teacher librarian and/or an effective library program has on student achievement has to begin with the famous Colorado studies by Keith Curry Lance. Keith is best known for his research in numerous States that was featured in the publication Shool Libraries Work!
David V. Loertscher
David Loertscher is another researcher focusing on how libraries contribute to improved student achievement. His latest book The library(editor), focuses on research related to constructivist learning in an information and technology rich environment.
Sam Fillipoff Sam Fillipoff retired from teaching in Vancovuer a few years ago. Unfortunately he has since passed away. He was a teacher who was a long time advocate on issues related to inner city schools. I first read an article by Sam while preparing for this assignment. His energy, brashness and pure passion to make a difference in the lives of some of BC's most vulnerable students is heartwarming. I look forward to reading more of Sam's articles as they have a BC perspective on poverty in our schools.
